July 17, 2008

LAMP = Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP/Perl/Python

According to Dougherty (2001) at the O’Reilly Network, the term LAMP became popular in Germany, “to define how MySQL was used in conjunction with Linux, Apache, and either Perl, Python, or PHP.” He asserts that this combination represents an open source web platform for high performance web-based applications.
